Chinese scroll painting with watercolor pigment on rice paper ground depicting two large black feathered birds perched on stylized pine tree branch above floral clusters of chrysanthemums. Work within an off-white silk surround with black calligraphic writing running vertically on right side above two red seal marks, further calligraphic markings at right side of painting with three red seal marks. Overall height 81.5", width of wooden handle 20.5".
Discoloration to rice paper including toning, dirt & grime, and scattered light foxing. Creasing throughout scroll from being rolled & unrolled. Tap repair to silk surround near bottom hand roll and top by hanging support. Discoloration to off-white silk surround. Losses to silk surround at top, more severe on left than right. Light abrasions to paper throughout. 6 masking tape repairs to back. No other signs of damage, loss, or repair.
