Chinese, likely first half 20th century. A hand painted porcelain round lidded jewelry or dresser box decorated to lid with an interior figural scene depicting three courtly or religious men seated to both sides of a table beside a peach toned wall with pierced central decoration revealing a fenced courtyard to opposite side, the interior with painted walls and adorned with plants to ground, the men in blue, orange, and pink robes, the side walls of the box lid and base with floral band on tondo with gilt borders. Box to a round hardwood stand on three feet. Marked to underside on light blue glazed field with four rust colored overglaze calligraphic marks. Overall approximately 2.75" tall, 4.375" diameter (of stand).
Wear to bottom and rims commensurate with age and light use. Some scattered dirt and grime evident--would likely benefit from professional cleaning. Wear to gilt on border from handling. No signs of cracks, chips, nicks or repairs.
