Chinese, late 19th/ early 20th century. A baluster form porcelain vase with under and overglaze enamel decoration to body depicting a single black and orange bird resting on a branch beside large pink peony blossoms and green leaves, the narrow neck with a line of four archaic calligraphy marks under a wide flat rim. Overall approximate height 12", diameter 4.5".
Light wear to rim, with slight discoloration. Light wear to enamels, most visible in characters on neck. Scattered dirt & grime throughout, would benefit from light, professional cleaning. Side of vase with thin hairline crack running vertically throughout span of body of vase. Bottom with one chip on side of foot. Bottom with slight wear, commensurate with age & shelf use. Under blacklight examination, no further signs of loss, damage, or repair.
