Chinese, late 19th/ early 20th century. A large hanging scroll of ink on paper with hand painted landscape motif with a waterfall and river at center before tall tree covered mountains, the river being fording at bottom by an oxen drawn cart led by one man on foot and one man on horseback, the painting with subtle hand coloring to areas of trees and the figures, with a tan silk surround and stained wood roller. Inscribed upper right with four lines of black calligraphic marks and two red square seal marks. Overall approximately 76" long, 34.125" wide.
Light wear to surround on edges commensurate with age and light handling. Creasing throughout from rolling and unrolling--no signs of rips, tears or holes. Upper left corner with signs of water damage in discolored drips (under 10). Slight discoloration to edges of painting--would benefit from professional cleaning. No other signs of damage, loss or repair. Hardware may have been replaced.
