- Lot Description
Chinese, late 19th/ early 20th century. A hanging scroll of ink and color on paper depicting the eight Buddhist Immortals in a heavenly landscape surrounded by rolling waves and a tree branch at center, with tan colored silk surround and wooden roller. Inscribed upper left with two lines of black calligraphic marks over one red square seal. Overall approximately 34" wide, 69" long.
Condition
Visible creasing throughout. Areas of toning to rice paper, scattered areas of discoloration, and evidence of humidity. Long area on right of painting that appears to be a stain from a liquid spill. Darker discoloration at top of scroll from handling, including a horizontal scuff at left. One tear to rice paper above figures. Paper with additional tear where it meets surround.
