Chinese, 20th century. A gray to brown rectangular dream stone with natural veining pattern to both sides reminiscent of sharply peaked mountains, the polished front side with three lines of black calligraphic marks to upper right. The stone encased in a removable stained hardwood frame that slides upward out of a matching wood stand, the whole with relief decoration of key patterning, scrolls, and other archaic motifs. Overall approximate height 15.75", width 17", depth 5.5". Sight size of stone plaque approximately 5.75" x 10.375".
Light wear to wooden stand commensurate with age and light handling. Light scattered surface scratches to dreamstone--not particularly distracting. Dirt and grime throughout edges and corners of dreamstone visible within stand. Stone not examined out of frame. Under black light examination, no other signs of damage, loss or repair.
