Probably English, early 20th century. Chinese Chippendale style gesso and giltwood mirror, the vertical rectangular mirror plate surmounted with pierced rocaille ornament centered with a pagoda hung with temple bells, the sides modeled as Corinthian capitals and mounted with opposing ho ho birds perching on a leafy bough over a pendant open leafy cartouche base. Approximate height 60", width 30", depth 4". Provenance: Property from the Estate of Dr. Woody Cobbs & Mrs. Honor Cobbs, Atlanta, Georgia.
The glass of the mirror is in good condition. The frame has some minor chips and losses. There is a loss in the foliate cartouche at the base. Boughs supporting the birds have been screwed into the frame's profile. The birds have been professionally repaired from previous damage. Copy of the treatment report available upon request.
