Carlos Merida (Guatemalan, 1891-1984), "Los Magos" - 1981, petro-plastic and oil on paper, signed and dated lower right. Cubist work with three abstract elongated figures, the figures made up by prisms, circles, and rectangles with triangular object separating the solo figure on the left from the pair of figures on the right, the dominant colors being red, black, and grey. Work accompanied with copy of with vintage typed label from Galeria de Arte Misrachi, Mexico with basic information on work and a copy of letter dated April of 2000 with image of work from Alma Merida, the artist's daughter, noting that he believes the work to be correct and produced by his father. Framed approximately 26.25" x 34.75". Sight size approximately 16" x 23.5".
Painting not examined out of the frame as work appears to be floating (possible hinging tape on verso). All edges deckled with light handling wear. Slight scattered discoloration or foxing to paper. No signs of paint loss, paint layer appears to be stable without signs of lifting. No signs of holes, rips or tears.
