- Lot Description
Carl Philipp Weber (German/ American (Pennsylvania), 1849-1922). "Seascape at Dusk", oil on canvas, signed lower left. Naturalistic seascape painting depicting a rocky cliff side overlooking sunlit ocean water with dense cloud cover to blue sky. Framed approximately 13.875" x 17.25". Unframed approximately 8" x 11.625".
Condition
Very minor craquelure to paint surface commensurate with age. Layer of dirt and grime commensurate with age, might benefit from light professional cleaning. Slight arching impression to canvas in upper left quadrant--not distracting. Frame rubbing with losses to all sides. One area of lifting to paint surface at center upper margin. Small linear puncture visible from verso, visible to recto when illuminated from behind, approximately 3mm long. Under black light examination, no indication of later repair. No further apparent punctures, losses, tears, abrasions.
