Carl Borg (American/ Swedish (California), 1879-1947). "Flowering Cactus", oil on wood panel, signed lower left. Painting depicting a close up view of a desert landscape with a cactus at center with pink flower blooms growing up from its top, with another variety of cactus or succulent to left, barren bush to right, and stone to front of flowering plant. Framed approximately 23.875" x 19.875", unframed approximately 20" x 16".
Examined under black light. Paint layer stable. Very minor in painting to areas around central subject, with one minor area of in painting to boulder below cactus, and minor in painting surrounding but not interfering with signature. A 1" abrasion lower left above signature, and a 0.25" long minor abrasion at center right near frame edge, neither abrasion distracting.
