20th century. Two piece garden sundial and pedestal set with removable bronze sundial with verdi gras patination, Roman numerals around border for gauging time, text on face in French "L'HEURE L'AMITIE" (roughly translated as: the hours pass, friendship remains), dolphins at bottom; supported on a cast stone garden display pedestal with chamfered corners, trailing fruit and nut swags, stacked capital and base--weathered patina throughout. Each unmarked. Pedestal height approximately 37". Sundial approximate diameter 10.75". Sundial provenance: The Erkins Studios, Inc., 8 West 40th Street, New York, New York whereby acquired by the Estate of Dr. Woody & Mrs. Honor Cobbs, Atlanta, Georgia in May of 1974. Dial and pedestal weigh approximately 160-175 lbs. Sundial exhibitions oxidation from exposure to outdoor environment, scattered minor pitting (most prevalent on raised marker), sun dial would likely benefit from light cleaning. Minor losses to pedestal throughout--no significant breaks or repairs. All elements on sides intact with a few minor losses to edges and tips. Oxidation throughout to stone with dirt, grime and moss/lichen growth. Circular recessed hole drilled into top for sundial placement. No other signs of damage, loss or repair.
