Black, Starr & Frost (American, 1875-1925). A sterling silver pedestal form inkwell with double sided pocket stop watch mounted within hinged lid. Double sided watch is encased in sterling silver with two enamel or porcelain 8 day clocks, each with black roman numerals at each hour and blued steel arms. Inkwell pedestal has two hinged lids each with circular openings, one that opens to reveal the watch and the second under it that opens to reveal the inkwell. Marked on bottom of pedestal "Black, Starr & Frost Sterling" above a standing winged bird. Marked on face of clock "Black Starr & Frost 8 Day 8". Monogram on front of pedestal "S". Approximate weight of pedestal without watch (but including inkwell bowl) 40.115 troy ounces. Pedestal approximately 4 3/8" tall x 5 1/8" wide at bottom. Watch approximately 66mm in diameter, weighing approximately 265 grams.
Swiss watch movement - 8 day double face, runs but needs cleaning. Clock fits opening and appears to be original to the piece. Glass or crystal inkwell insert is in good, clean condition.
