Benton Murdoch Spruance (American, 1904-1967), "Ball Carrier"-1933, lithograph on paper, pencil signed lower right margin, limited edition and title in pencil lower left margin "21/21 Ball Carrier", monogrammed within plate matrix "B.S.". Figural sport motif print depicting a running football player with ball in hand and dynamic position as he runs and turns helmeted head. Framed approximately 23.5" x 17.5". Sight size of sheet within floating frame approximately 18.75" x 12.9". Provenance: From the Private Collection of Benno & Babette Rothschild, Columbus, Georgia.
Sheet not examined out of the frame in order to preserve condition - mounted floating within frame with all four edges in view. Sheet overall with toning, darker at each edge. Horizontal dark line approximately 0.5" from top of sheet, likely a plate mark. Minor scattered areas of foxing to margins - not distracting. Edges with minor crinkling and rippling commensurate with light handling. Top two corners with darkening consistent with light handling. No apparent tears, pin holes, abrasions, or losses.
