Manner of Mies van der Rohe (German/American, 1886-1960). A loveseat in the style of furniture designs for the Barcelona Pavillion at the 1929 International Exposition. The steel frame upholstered with tufted vinyl with natural animal texture cushions and seats, the chrome-plated steel back rail terminating in back legs, joined to seat rail resting on joined front legs. Unmarked. Approximate height 30", length 45", width 23.25".
Structurally sound. Slight squeak from seat back--would benefit from tightening. Vinyl with scattered areas of minor wear, commensurate with age & usage. Internal back frame is rubbing corners. Oxidation to steel base & evidence of surface scratches, also commensurate with age & usage. Original screws (16 total) to underside of stretcher & frame are missing, however, it has been reinforced & does not affect stability. One foot with original metal disc. Three feet with replaced black rubber discs.
