- Lot Description
Whiting Manufacturing Company (American (New York), 1866-1926) for Bailey Banks & Biddle (American, founded 1878). An art nouveau sterling silver fruit bowl of rounded square form with floriform scalloped body issuing everted wide rim with repousse and chased decoration of morning glory flower blossoms bordered by c scrolls. Underside with maker's mark and "Bailey Banks & Biddle CC / Sterling 6011". Approximate height 2.875", diameter 9.875" x 10.875". Total approximate weight 18.9 troy ounces.
Condition
Overall very good condition. Scattered minor pitting, tarnishing and light oxidation concealed in areas of dense repousse floral work. Interior of bowl with surface scratches; not distracting, commensurate with age and usage. Underside of bowl with scratches commensurate with contact with surface.
