- Lot Description
American School, 19th century. "The Great American Wheat Harvest", oil on canvas, apparently unsigned, with stencil to verso "Julius Scholz Philadelphia". Figural landscape painting depicting a pastoral scene with farm hands loading wheat into a horse drawn wagon in a golden field. Framed approximately 30.75" x 35.25". Unframed approximately 25" x 30".
Condition
Painting is wax lined to verso. Four significant patches to verso (see image). Single detectable rectangular patch to recto at upper center. Scattered in-painting detected throughout; though largely contained to sky. Craquelure throughout; apparently stable.
