- Lot Description
American, mid to late 18th century. A Queen Anne mahogany highboy or dresser on stand, having a molded cornice in two parts, having three short, two medium, and three long drawers, the bottom portion with one long and three short drawers, with a shaped skirt, brass pulls, and cabriole legs terminating in Spanish trifid feet. Apparently unmarked. Approximate height 77.25", width 42.75", depth 22.75".
Condition
Wear commensurate with age and use. Large repairs to corners of six drawers, and missing corner to one. One long drawer with a large central repair and approximately 14" repair to top of drawer. Brasses likely replaced - some are too large for drawers. Losses to pediment and cornice. Polish residue. Some expected surface wear overall, including scratching, denting, nicks, and abrasions, most of which have darkened over time. Some seam separation and polish staining. Cracking to boards. Losses/scratching to feet. Some worming to interior drawers, with some holes and wear to bottoms. Some repairs to drawer interiors. Some scratching/wear around drawer edges. Some inherent cracking to drawer fronts. Wood between two drawers is slightly recessed. Loss to front above drawer. No other visible signs of damage or repair.
