Continental School, early 20th century. An alabaster carved sculpture depicting a seated and youthful Venus with the infant Cupid, with detached circular base. Overall approximate height with base 28". Provenance: From the Estate of Dr. Woody and Mrs. Honor Cobbs, Atlanta, Georgia.
Structurally sound. Sculpture has been exposed to natural exterior elements and therefore has a green/mossy patina, some dirt encrusted in crevices. Major glue repair around Cupid's neck, chin, arm and back of wing. Scattered areas displaying cracks, splits and losses, some prominent and more visible than others. No other signs of damage, loss or repair.
