Painting with man with grid patterned white body with hands raised and pointing upward standing at full length next to three striped orbs or balls beside likely Persephone shackled at ankles above stenciled text reading "PHILOSOPHY" in red above stone like patterning. Verso inscribed "Adrienne Anderson 1995 Jurisprudence #1 of 5 Panels Based on 5 Themes of the Liberal Arts acrylic on wood glazed for protection" above cleaning directions. Unframed approximately 72" x 26.5". Provenance: Commissioned by Everybody's Pizza, Decatur, Georgia for restaurant space in 1995. Note: Anderson was born in Virginia and later moved to Atlanta, Georgia. She received her BFA and MFA from the University of Georgia, Athens, Georgia. Since then the artist has held several teaching positions including at the American InterContinental University in Atlanta and Kennesaw State University. Anderson has exhibited in more than 50 solo exhibitions in the United States and Europe. Her work is in many public collections including the Springfield Museum of Art, Springfield, Missouri; the Norton Museum Art, West Palm Beach, Florida; Montgomery Museum of Art, Montgomery, Alabama; and Coca Cola Headquarters, Atlanta, Georgia.
