Engraved by Remigius Parr (English, fl. mid 18th century) and designed by John Swaine (British 1725-1782) after Peter Monamy (British, 1681-1749) "A Calme/Calmel" and "Fresh Gale/Vent Frais", hand colored engravings, inscribed below image lower left "P. Monamy, Pinx Swaine Delin" and lower right "Parr Sculp", published on 12th May 1794 by Laurie and Whittle, 53 Fleet Street, London. Pair of engravings of British ships leaving harbor. "A Calme/Calmel" men appear on the shore and boats leaving for sea, British flags adorns the largest ship at the right, with calm water and blue sky. "Fresh Gate/Vent Frais" depicts British ships at sea, ships adorned with British flag, waves crashing against the ships, men embarking into energized waters, smaller boat to the left of engraving carrying two men. Both framed approximately 18.75." x 22.25". Both sight size approximately 11.25" x 15.25".
