- Lot Description
Flemish and German (15th-17th centuries). A collection of six small stained and painted glass panels mounted in a later custom wooden frame comprising a late 15th century German roundel depicting the Resurrection; a 16th century Flemish oval panel depicting the Scourging of Christ; a 17th century Flemish arched rectangular panel depicting the Disputation of Christ; a 17th century Flemish rectangular panel depicting St. Peter trying to walk on water; a late 16th/ early 17th century Flemish rectangular panel depicting St. Nicholas and Gertrude; and a 16th century Flemish roundel depicting the Annunciation to the Shepherds. Overall approximate height 63.75", width 13.75". Individual panel approximate dimensions from top to bottom 7.5" diameter, 9" x 7", 9.375" x 8.125", 7,875" x 6.5", 10.25" x 8.25", and 8.5" diameter. Provenance: each panel acquired by the Estate of Dr. Woody Cobbs and Mrs. Honor Cobbs, Atlanta, Georgia from The Monastery Stained Glass, Northamptonshire, England in a private sale on September 13 and 14th, 2004. Note: St. Nicholas and St. Gertrude panel previously sold by Sotheby's London on May 3, 1955 as part of lot 103.Prior to bidding, please consult the additional photos provided and ask all pertinent questions (i.e. condition, size, etc.).
