Roy Ahlgren (American (Pennsylvania), 1927-2011), circa 1969. Group of four unframed serigraphs from the artist's "Engeria" series comprising of "Engeria I"; "Energia II", "Engeria III", and "Energia VI". Each depicting geometric star burst. "Engeria VI" noted as "13/100" in pencil, all others noted as artists proof in pencil. Each sheet approximately 20" x 20".
(1) Energia I: Light toning to upper quadrants, slightly darker in lower two quadrants. Some handling creasing to lower right margin, more prevalent from verso. Scattered minor discolorations. Minor graphite or ink residue in lower margin, possibly original to work. Under black light examination, no apparent signs of repair. (2) Energia II: Even toning throughout. Paper abrasion sustained in all four corners consistent with adhesive removal. Scattered minor discolorations. Some handling creasing to margins, more prevalent in right margin. Minor graphite or ink residue in left margin, possibly original to work. Some handling creasing to all margins, most prevalent in right margin. Under black light examination, no apparent signs of repair. (3) Energia III: Light toning throughout. Paper abrasion sustained in all four corners consistent with adhesive removal. Scattered minor discolorations. Minor graphite or ink residue in lower margin, possibly original to work. Under black light examination, no apparent signs of repair. (4) Energia IV: Heavy toning throughout, more prevalent in left quadrants. Large crease to upper right corner spanning approximately 5". Light handling creasing to corners. Handling creasing in left and right margins. Scattered minor discolorations. Verso with adhesive remnants in upper corners. Under black light examination, no apparent signs of repair.
