Volkstedt Porcelain (Germany, 1760- ). An early 20th century large "Dresden Lace" hand painted porcelain figural grouping comprising of five people in 18th century French dress with porcelain lace details in a parlor setting, each one peering over at a subject not in the scene. From left, a brunette woman in floral gown with gilt green cape, a woman seated in an ornate green upholstered chair wearing a gilt dress with floral decoration and having her right arm over the shoulder of a young boy at her knee, a standing male in formal purple long coat over gilt decorated vest and bowed lace neck scarf, and a last man in burgundy long coat with lace neck scarf. The grouping on an attached porcelain pedestal form base with painted green and gilt rug over tiled floor, with applied flowers and gilt scroll decoration along edges. Marked to back of grouping in blue underglaze. Approximately 13.5" x 23.5" x 11.75".
All fingers are intact. Standing man on the right has damage to lacey trim on sleeve of coat. Standing lady on the left has a small chip to floral accessory in hair as well as area of missing lace on her dress. Prior repair to back green & white chair with traces of glue residue. Minute flea bites to floral bouquets on floor, some possibly missing (not distracting). Slight discoloration to porcelain. Would benefit from cleaning.
