Copeland & Garrett (English, 1833-1847), second quarter of 19th century. Twenty-one piece collection of porcelain with gilt highlights accenting robin’s egg blue glaze on white ground comprising of a footed serving compote, two oblong serving dishes, two lidded and footed sauce tureens with separable circular under plates, and twelve luncheon plates. Each marked on bottom with “COPELAND & GARRETT FELSPAR PORCELAIN LATE SPODE” in green within scrolled foliate border. Approximate diameter of plates 9.25”. Compote approximate height 7.6”, diameter of foot 6”.
All items with wear to gilt and painted elements. All items with wear to bottom commensurate with age, some with small flakes and nicks to foot. Under black light examination, one plate with X shaped hairline fracture on tondo. One oblong serving dish with early separation seam on foot, however currently stable. All items with crazing to to glaze--some with more severe crazing than others. No signs of further damage, loss or repair. Very good condition overall.
