A mahogany wood secretary desk and bookcase comprising new and old parts, the bookcase comprising a pitched pediment with central fluted plinth surmounting a dental frieze molding, above two glass doors with Chinese style fretwork, opening to interior with 16 machine-molded slats for shelves and three shelves with molded edges, slant top desk opening to new interior with central prospect door decorated with cyma-curved molding opening to upper storage compartment over two lower drawers with brass handle pulls, flanked on left and right by four rows of cubby holes with intricate overhead machine-carved cyma-curved molding surmounting one long drawer over one short drawer adjacent to one longer drawer, flanked by drawer supports, all over four desk drawers comprising old wood interiors, brass bail pulls, each drawer with central keyholes within brass decorative cartouches, overall raised on flat ogee-carved feet. Approximate height 94" (with pediment), height (without pediment) 84", width of pediment 46", width of base 43.25", depth (with slant top lid open) 27", depth (with slant top lid closed) 24".
