Italian, 19th and 20th century. 2 very similar Venetian rococo peinte and parcel gilt decorated fauteuils or open armchairs, one being 19th century and the other being a more modern copy, both with pierced shell cresting over a cartouche shaped back, padded arms, and serpentine seat upholstered in pink with diamond lattice or diaper pattern with florets, the serpentine apron centered with carved shell raised on cabriole legs headed with foliate and terminating scrolled toes. 19th C. chair height 43.5", width 22"(arm to arm), seat depth 18.5", seat height 19". 20th C. chair height 43.5", width 23" (arm to arm), seat depth 18", seat height 19".
The 19th century chair has scattered nicks, chips and imperfections to finish commensurate with age. There are traces of old glue residue and a repair to the back right leg.
