• Lot Description
  Two sterling silver dresser/vanity boxes or table accessories comprising a Tiffany & CO (American/New York, founded 1837) powder box or compact in circular form with removable lid and allover heavy repousse floral design, the interior with gilt wash, the bottom inscribed in script 'May R. Markle", accompanied by an oval repousse snuff or pill box with gilt wash interior, likely hallmarked for Thomas Whitehouse (English, active 1848-1898) having a centralized inscription "VIRTUTE ET HONORE" (virtue and honor) and monogrammed. Tiffany box hallmarked "TIFFANY & CO/7928M1270/STERLING SILVER'". Snuff box hallmarked to the interior lid and base for Thomas Whitehouse with date code for 1891. Approximate height of powder box .87", diameter2.25", weight 1.86 troy ounces. Approximate height of snuff box .62", width 2.12", depth 1.5", weight 1.32 troy ounces.
