Hans Erni (Swiss, 1909-2015). "Meduse (Medusa)" and "Narcisse (Narcissus)" - 1953, lithographs in colors on wove paper, limited edition 8/50, each pencil signed and numbered to lower margin. A group of two chromolithographs depicting Greek mythological figures, one a bust length portrait of Medusa in blue and the other a full body depiction of the hunter Narcissus in brown. Medusa framed approximately 26.25" x 22.5", sight size approximately 18.75" x 15". Narcisse framed approximately 24.25" x 20.5", sight size approximately 18.75" x 15". Provenance: From the Private Collection of Benno & Babette Rothschild, Columbus, Georgia. Reference: Cailler 71 and 72.
Narcisse work not laid down, light even toning to sheet, no signs of holes, rips, tears, foxing or water damage. Left side of sheet appears to have been cut down with uneven edge. Meduse work with light toning to sheet, left side appears to have been cut down, scattered foxing throughout, water damage lower left corner. No signs of rips, tears, holes or further damage.
