Engraved by William Bromley (British, 1769-1842) after the painting by Luke Clennell (English, 1781-1840). "The Decisive Charge of the Life Guards at the Battle of Waterloo", hand colored engraving, 19th century artist's proof. Engraving depicts a scene at the Battle of Waterloo of 1815. Inscribed below image "Published 1st March 1821 under the direction of the committee by John Britton, Burton College, for the benefit of the painter's family. John Hawkes, Collector", with list of committee members to left and right, also "Printed by Dixon & Son" and "Proof". Framed approximately 29" x 34", sight size approximately 16" x 21".
Sheet has not been cut down, mounted to mat board with hinging tape on all four sides. Even toning to sheet, mild mat burn, slight handling creases--nothing distracting or too noticeable. No other signs of damage, loss or repair.
