Italian, likely 19th century. A cream glazed terra cotta garden bench of rectangular form, the seat with key and foliate patterning in relief to top and rolled edges, raised on trestle supports at either end with central scroll and flower motif flanked by outward facing lion busts on hairy paw feet, each trestle support raised on an integral block plinth base. Approximate height 18", width 47", depth 18.25".
Overall with crazing to glazing. Dirt and grime present throughout, commensurate with use; would benefit from light professional cleaning. Top separable from legs. Top with scattered glazing imperfections, not distracting. Top with nicks and chips commensurate with use. Edges of top with minor losses to corners, not distracting. Legs with black discoloration to high relief elements including tops of heads and scrolls. Legs with scattered nicks and chips commensurate with use. One leg with small losses to plinth and lion’s feet. One leg with significant, untreated losses to interior plinth and one lion’s foot. No apparent repairs or other significant signs of damage or loss.
