Chinese, 19th century. Chinese export rose medallion porcelain oblong meat dish with recessed veins leading to recessed well at end for catching juices, top hand painted with enamels depicting alternating C scroll bordered medallions with scenes of courtly figures and birds and butterflies amid fruit and flowers, gilt accents throughout. Unmarked. Overall approximately 11.4" x 15.25". Provenance: From the Private Collection of Ms. Kathleen Morrison, Alpharetta, Georgia.
Overall with some glaze bubbles to rim. Few and minor enamel losses, most notably to top center beside male figure. Under black light examination, no apparent repairs. Minor abrasions to underside commensurate with use.
