Chinese, 19th century Qing Dynasty (1644-1912), possibly earlier. A famille rose porcelain deep welled center bowl decorated to interior with two courtly figures in brightly colored robes, the exterior of bowl with courtly figural scene on tondo depicting many characters engaged in activity, including riding a tiger, resting on rocks and below trees, and engaged in conversation. Bowl to a stained wood stand with reticulated scroll cartouches and supported by five scrolled feet. Overall approximately 8.625" tall, 12.5" diameter of rim. Provenance: From the Estate of Henry G. Muecke Jr., Atlanta, Georgia.
Scattered glazing imperfections throughout. Gilt accent border on top exterior of bowl nearly worn completely--slightly visible in raking light and under black light. Wear to foot commensurate with age and shelf use. Bowl with a few scattered fleabits. 3 splits to base with earlier repairs, oxidation to wood commensurate with age. No signs of chips, nicks, cracks or repairs.
