Continental, late 18th century. A Louis XVI cream painted marble top console having a demilune white with grey vein marble top over a conforming frieze have bead and reel border enclosing carved rinceau raised on turned tapered and stop fluted legs headed with patera blocks. Approximate height 33.12", width 43.6", depth 22.5".
Overall good condition. Some minor edge chipping to very top rim of console from contact with marble top. Marble top (later) shows minor scratches, staining and minute chips to edge. The underside of marble top with added central stretcher for support. Blocks under top with glue traces and reinforced with screw, probably wood rod joiner screw. Scattered areas of chips and paint touch ups. Prior evidence of worming as would be expected. Wear is commensurate with age and usage.
