Chinese, 20th century. An 18 foot long hand scroll with hand painted colorful landscape motif on paper depicting two rocky areas overlooking a body of water with flowering vines, stems, and branches, as well as grasses, lily pads in the water, and flying butterflies. Marked with one red calligraphic seal to lower right corner, with two lines of black calligraphic marks at upper left just away from corner accompanied by one red square seal mark, one double gourd seal at far left center encompassing two calligraphic marks, and one red square seal at lower left. Overall approximately 218.75" long (approximately 18.25'), 13" tall.
Scroll extremely long and with approximately 10 small losses to paper at top and bottom throughout form (not particularly noticeable due to the length and size of work). Colors rich and vibrant without signs of fading. Small C shaped tear at left of two pink peony flowers toward left side of scene. Minor creasing from light handling. Scattered areas slightly discolored from dirt and handling. Fabric surround in good condition with light wear to edges. No signs of water damage.
