Continental School (likely French), 16th century. A Renaissance Period stained and painted glass panel depicting the apocryphal Biblical scene of Susanna and the Elders in which a fair Hebrew wife was falsely accused by voyeuristic and lustful elders of having an affair with a young man in order to blackmail her into having sex with them, the elders eventually being caught in their lie and put to death. The stained glass panel depicting a maiden at lower right with a braided crown of hair peering away from two bearded men set above her to left, the figural scene bordered by sanguine glass band. Approximately 14.75" x 10.625". Provenance: Roy Grosvenor Thomas, New York, to 1923, whereby acquired by S. Vernon Mann, New York and Great Neck, NY, to 1932, acquired sometime thereafter by the Estate of Dr. Woody Cobbs and Mrs. Honor Cobbs, Atlanta, Georgia.
