Norwegian, circa 1960s. Complimenting set of twelve (12) Norwegian gold washed sterling silver figural open salts in the form of a Viking Ship, all with dragon heads to the stern and bow and shields lining the sides of the ship, each salt comes with its original clear glass liner, the interior of the salt cellar is gold washed and 8 salts have an enameled exterior. There are 2 yellow, 3 white, 3 green enameled salts. Four of the salts retain original silver body with no enamel. Each salt comes with a small spoon with color matched enamel (one yellow enameled spoon is absent). The interior bottom of each enameled salt is stamped '925 S. STERLING' and "NORWAY" below the makers mark for silversmith Theodore Olsen eftf of Burgen (founded 1868). The associated spoons are marked "Sterling Norway". The four silver boats lacking enamel are hallmarked for Lohne Brothers of Bergen, Norway, silver content 830 as are the four spoons. Approximate height 1.6", width 3.25", diameter 1.25". Provenance: From the Estate of Mary L. Haugk, Lawrenceville, Georgia.
Overall very good condition. There is some oxidation and tarnishing of the silver and the gilt. The 4 boats with no enamel-work have non-removable liners. One boat with white enamel has minor lifting or puckering at the top left near stern. One yellow enameled spoon is missing.
