Royal Crown Derby (English, founded circa 1750), 20th century. Matched set of twelve Royal Crown Derby bone china dinner plates in the Gold Aves pattern having a scalloped rim, the whole decorated with gilt birds of paradise and peacocks with long trailing feathers amidst foliage, rockwork and a single butterfly. Marked to the back with hallmark for Royal Crown Derby, A.1235. Approximate diameter 10.6". Note: The original design was taken from an embroidered cushion fashioned by a member of the Royal Academy of Needlework.
Excellent condition with little to no signs of use. Light wear to the bottom of each commensurate with age and light shelf use. Each with minor scattered discoloration to gold, would likely lift from light cleaning. Under black light examination, no signs of fractures or repairs. No other signs of damage, loss or repair.
