Peter Mars (American, b 1959): Colt 38 Special. Hand-signed Original hand-pulled serigraph/silkscreen on archival paper with hand written lyrics from Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress written in silver ink, signed lower right. Numbered and stamped twice verso.
Inspired by wallpaper, candy wrappers, billboards and match packs, this influential American Pop Artist Mars' colorful, quirky artworks disrupt predictable interpretation, and transform the ordinary things we see every day into entirely new experiences that tickle the senses, and delight the child inside. Much of Mars' work reflects the American pop culture of his childhood in the 1960s and 70s, notably the idealized American family, comic book figures, television and space age inventions.
