Basquiat was an influential African-American artist who rose to success during the 1980s. This unique item comes from a collection which achieved notoriety as the original Kevin Doyle Subway Portfolio. The former owner, Kevin Doyle, reported that Basquiat left a portfolio of postcard drawings behind on a subway ride. This lot is accompanied by a document from Mr. Doyle Basquiat’s paintings are largely responsible for elevating graffiti artists into the realm of the New York gallery scene. This item is accompanied by documentation obtained by Mr. Doyle.
