Jean Guy Desrosiers (Canadian, b.1934): A Quebec Street Scene. Oil on burlap, signed lower right, framed.
A land scape painter, his style is vigorous yet airy. His carefully planned work is most noticeable for a lack of superfluous details. A confirmed romantic, Desrosiers uses warm tones and an expert appreciation for light to conjure up fairy castles and a hint of the ethereal in sometimes charming but more often worn and tired buildings. His subjects include old Quebec City, the rural countryside and still life canvases. For Jean-Guy Desrosiers, everything is a subject to paint. He paints during the day, the evening and sometimes at night. Landscapes, still life, people and occasionally abstracts.
26 x 32 inches framed; 24 x 30 inches canvas.
