Dimitri Polak (Ukrainian, 1922-2008): Still Life with Lemon. Serigraph on paper, signed and numbered 234/395 below. This Item is accompanied by a COA.
Polak's work combines a sophisticated use of color with an Expressionist approach to the application of pigment. The surfaces of his paintings on canvas are built-up texturally and exhibit an unusual relief quality that at once catches the eye and affects the colors that he layers (glazes). The effect is one of a shimmering light that plays throughout his warm and inviting landscapes.

Purchased in 2004 at Galaxy Reg, Registration No. 131190.0018. Private collection, Boston.
