Charles Samuel Addams (American, 1912 - 1988) Manner of: Football Fright. Ink and watercolor on Bristol Board, signed in ink lower right and twice verso. Possibly a sketch for what would later be used for the TV Guide cover to promote the 1978 Superbowl. Verso pencil writing has been mostly erased. It appears to read "TC Guide Cover from 1978 #5"
Charles Samuel Addams Charles Addams was best known for his macabre cartoons that appeared in "The New Yorker", for whom he also did the occasional cover. His Addams Family cartoons were the basis for a hit TV series and two successful feature films.
