Using a near infrared spectrometer, the determined age of this paper is 1945. (Warhol had an obsession with women's shoes and became a successful commercial illustrator of them. This painting is possibly an early attempt to integrate the shoe motif into a fine art painting.
Andrew Warhola was an American artist, director and producer who was a leading figure in the visual art movement known as pop art. His works explore the relationship between artistic expression, celebrity culture, and advertising that flourished by the 1960s, and span a variety of media, including painting, silk-screening, photography, film, and sculpture.

Condition
Aged condition, the paper has somewhat severe mat burn, and the color is slightly faded. The paper is glued, along the top edge, to mat board for prior framing.
