Andy Warhol (American, 1928-1987) attributed: Window, pencil drawing, signed, verso stamp of Le Point Galleria D'Arte Moderna, Roma, dated 7/1/1980.
Prior to becoming one of the most famous artists of his generation, Andy Warhol had a rather successful career in advertising, illustrating major campaigns and commanding high prices. His transition to the art world did not mark the end of his fascination with advertising and its insidious effects on consumers, in fact, it became the crux of his success. While he was always known for his depictions of luxury goods, by appropriating imagery from his blue-collar childhood, Warhol pushed the boundaries of what is considered appropriate for high art.
