Tanzanite Rings

Antique and vintage Tanzanite rings at auction are primarily recognized for their blue or violet color. Many antique and vintage Tanzanite rings for sale are offered on Bidsquare’s auction. Tanzanite was recently found in 1967 in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. Its vivid blue-to-violet hue, and high clarity led to a rapid rise in its popularity. The term Tanzanite is coined after the East African country Tanzania, where it was discovered. In the Tanzanian tribe called Maasai, they believed that tanzanite holds a spiritual connotation that inspires calmness and compassion.

Tanzanite is the only gemstone that is known to appear with different hues when viewed in different directions. The colors range from blue, purple to red, and even yellow. The richer the color, the more precious the gem. 

Quick facts:

• The largest tanzanite ever found was mined in June of 2020. A miner named Saniniu Laizer discovered two stones weighing 9.2 kilograms and 5.8 kilograms. Tanzania's mining government offered Laizer a sum of  £2.4 million (USD 3.28 million) for the discovery.

• Tanzanite crystal is 1000 times scarcer than diamonds. This is because it can be only found in the northern part of Tanzania.

• The biggest carved tanzanite of 725-carat was designed by Naomi Sarna. The piece is set on a sterling silver base.
