During his travel, in the ‘70s, he visited Bali - an island with a long history of jewelry designing. This sparked his interest in jewelry and jewelry designing. He started studying the methods and mannerisms of the local craftsmen and created his first jewelry pieces by combining new concepts with traditional Balinese methods. He frequently worked with sterling silver and gold to bring his creative designs to life.

A few years later, he opened a small jewelry shop that evolved into a celebrated international company. Incorporated in Bali, John Hardy’s business became committed to producing handcrafted jewelry.
