Mandala Art

Mandala art is a geometrical pattern that originated as a symbol of spirituality in Buddhism and Hinduism but spread as a general term in other cultures. A mandala is a style of art that incorporates intricate designs within a circular boundary and has become increasingly popular because of its deep meaning and the details it conveys. These intricate circles have profound meditative and symbolic meanings beyond their visual appearance, although the art itself may captivate you. There is a high level of appreciation for Mandala art throughout the art industry. At Bidsquare Live Auctions, you can find original mandala art for sale.

It is believed that meditation mandalas originated in Tibet in the 8th century. Though they are most often associated with eastern cultures and religions, mandalas are found in cultures around the world, suggesting that a deep part of every human being can be understood through the creation of mandalas. The mandala is considered a symbol of the Self, and mandala art drawing is believed to provide a sacred space for individuals to get in touch with their inner selves.

Mandala Art – A Brief History
A Mandala is a Circle or Center that originates from the ancient Indian language (Sanskrit). There are multiple patterns and decorations surrounding the central point of the mandala that are interrelated and connected. A Mandala image represents every aspect of life that's interconnected and endless.

As a symbol of life's infinity and spirits' non-disappearance, a circle illustrates that everything exists within nature and the universe. Symbolically, they represent rebirth, repetitiveness, spiritual growth, and protection. Also, from a Buddhist perspective, death is not the end of life, but only a temporary phase. As such, life is a state of infinity and a spirit of wholesomeness.

Mandalas can be categorized into many different types; however, we will be focusing on those that are illustrated and defined through various art forms.

Geometric Mandalas

Of all the types of mandalas, geometric mandalas are the most popular. There could be geometric shapes, lines, or anything else in the pattern. Each pattern radiates from a central point, and all patterns are separated by implied or actual lines to simplify their design. It can take the form of a triangle, a circle, a semi-circle, a square, or a different shape.

Architectural Mandalas

Architectural Mandalas are designs that incorporate lines from architectural compositions to create mandala shapes. Mandalas can take the form of sculptures or drawings in 3D with perspective.

Figure/Element/Geographical/Cosmological/Mandalas

There are similarities in their design and in their purpose among these mandalas. These patterns incorporate or include figures of deities, symbols of elements, and/or cosmic representations. Since four angles have their own spiritual significance, they usually take the form of a square.

Flower Mandalas

In flower mandalas, any material can be used, but the flowers themselves and their spiritual symbolism are the main focus. There are many different meanings associated with them, including spiritual enlightenment, self-love, rebirth, eternal life, and balance. They can also simply be bright flowers that inspire you to make mandalas from them.

Letter Mandalas

Letter mandalas originally represented simplified deities or spiritual beings rather than complete images. Presently, letter mandalas feature patterns or lettering that resemble letters. Mandalas made from symbols are also known as symbol mandalas.

At  online auctions, it is possible to purchase all mandala art paintings, making them perfect décor pieces for offices, homes, spiritual centers, galleries, yoga centers, cafes, restaurants, spas, health resorts, and commercial buildings, bringing peace and inner calm to the atmosphere.
