Kofod Larsen

Danish, 1921–2003. Kofod Larsen was a Danish-born furniture maker. He received his degree in architecture from the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen and later opened his studio in 1948. His designs can be distinguished by comfortable materials and simple shapes, with circular seats and pointed legs. During the 1950s and 1960s, Kofod Larsen's work grew extremely popular, with natural and minimal designs. He started developing interest in designing hardwood furniture, particularly furniture crafted from rosewood.

The artist was known to have an organic style and an imaginative perspective. When Queen Elizabeth II was visiting Denmark in 1958, she became fascinated with his creations and purchased multiple pieces of Kofod Larsen Furniture. Currently, Kofod Larsen's sideboards are highly sought in the furniture industry. His popularity in Denmark led him to England and Sweden, where he was requested to rejuvenate the creations of a couple of furniture designers. Today, Kofod Larsen Furniture has gained fame.
