American, 1899–1978. American fine jeweler and specialty retailer, Verdura was established in 1939 by Duke Fulco di Verdura. After finding international recognition for a costume ball he hosted, Fulco began designing textiles and jewelry for friend and designer, Coco Chanel. This collaboration helped Fulco make a mark with his revolutionary and iconic jewelry in gold and gemstones. With Verdura, Fulco designed iconic brooches, rings, watches, and other accessories for the stars of his milieu. In 1985, his company was brought over, including an archive of nearly 10,000 original sketches. Today, Verdura’s fine jewelry brings Falco’s timeless designs to modern collectors.
