Israeli, 1955- 2019. Leonid Afremov was a celebrated contemporary painter famous for his Impressionist artworks. Leonid Afremov's paintings often involve landscape or cityscapes in various oil paints and employ a knife for painting. He also paints seascapes, portraits, and flowers which are politically neutral and highly colorful. Leonid Afremov's paintings are often inspired by simple objects and depict his unusual painting style packed with emotions that have a lasting effect on the human soul. Leonid Afremov was born on July 12, 1955, in Vitebsk, Belarus, and developed an early interest in arts. The artist studied arts at the Vitebsk Education Institute, where he was influenced by artists like Pablo Picasso, Modigliani, Dali, Marc Chagall, and French Impressionism of the 19th century. These influences are visible in his vibrant oil paintings with motley patchworks and details where color prevails over shapes. Leonid Afremov was fond of cats and other animals and mostly painted cats, horses, dogs, giraffes, and tigers. Leonid Afremov's only political artworks are of bull-fights, which portray the cruel nature of bull-fighting. They aim to discourage people from enjoying bull-fights.

From the period 1990 to 2002, Afremov lived in Israel, and from 2002 to 2010, he resided in Boca Raton in Florida. The self-representing artist often promoted and sold his work solely over the internet. He showed very rarely at exhibitions and was not involved with a lot of galleries and art dealers.The artist died on August 19, 2019, in Playa del Carmen in Mexico.
